NEWRA membership is open to all who maintain their principal residence in the North End/Waterfront neighborhood. NEWRA bylaws require that members certify that their primary residence is the North End/Waterfront by providing a Massachusetts driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID with a North End/Waterfront address.
Your NEWRA membership will provide you with:
Insight - Learn about proposed changes impacting the quality of life in your neighborhood before they’re finalized or implemented.
Influence – Meetings provide an opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns to local elected officials, community leaders and government agency representatives before decisions are made. As a member, you’re able to vote to help determine whether NEWRA supports or opposes many of the proposed changes.
Social Networking – Meet and build friendships with your neighbors, and become more involved in issues important to you.
Voting at NEWRA
NEWRA is a democratic member-driven institution. Members are eligible to vote at a monthly meeting if they have attended at least one prior meeting during the preceding six months. Votes are taken on designated issues to support or oppose. To vote for the election of NEWRA officers, members must have attended two meetings as a member during the prior six months. If you join online, please do so at least 48 hours prior to our monthly meeting to establish your right to vote. Non-members are welcome to attend NEWRA meetings, but are not allowed to vote.
Individual Membership Levels
Basic Membership: $20
Supporting Member: $35
Sustaining Member: $100+
NEWRA welcomes donations in any amount beyond the basic member level. NEWRA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Funds raised from membership fees are used to help cover expenses that include operational costs, insurance, annual party, the website, and other communications.
